Because I spend most of my photography time with high school seniors and families, I only selectively say “yes” to a few weddings now and then. I was so thankful Emily and Zach asked me to be part of their wedding as the photographer. When I met with Emily and her precious sister Erin to discuss wedding details, I felt as if I’d known them my whole life. Emily exudes warmth and love and has a gentle spirit that fills the entire room.
Emily and Zach’s wedding could not have been more perfect. It took place at the Sam Davis home in Smyrna–a lovely historic mansion with tree-lined walkways and rustic out buildings–under a 100+ year-old tree adorned with lanterns. The weather was ideal: warm but not hot with only a slight breeze.
We started with some fun shots of the bridesmaids and Emily getting ready. I knew we were in for a good time when I met Emily’s bridesmaids in their black satin dressing robes with drinks in their hands!
We then took portraits with lovely Emily and her beautiful entourage–and a special visitor who stopped by for a kiss from mommy.
Because they had an evening wedding, I convinced Emily and Zach to do a “First Look” prior to the ceremony. I don’t think there is a more special way for a bride and groom to have a few precious moments alone together before they take their vows in front of friends and family. Emily and Zach had written each other letters, which they read with their backs to one another. I think all of us had tears in our eyes as we watched their sweet reactions to those treasured words. Then they turned to see one another for the first time that day–Zach looking handsome in his beige tux and Emily breathtaking in her strapless gown.
Then it was on to the ceremony which looked like something out of a storybook. There were so many beautiful images and moments captured during that day; it was hard for me to choose which ones to blog, but I think this will give you a taste of how special and lovely Emily and Zach’s wedding was.
